Honeybee Gold

About our honey

Our honey is created by bees foraging nectar from a variety of flora around the East Coast of Australia, these include trees such as Angophora, Ironbark, Bloodwood and Banksia. Seasonally these plants bloom and the bees feed on their flowers. The result is a delightful honey which inherits the unique flavours produced by the different flowers.

Bees roam freely; they feed on a variety of flowers and can travel up to 5 km to find their favourite nectar. Instinctively bees aim to travel as little as possible to conserve energy and be more productive so, if a flower close to their hive attracts them, they are happy to spare the travel. We strategically place our hives close to selected trees and to a certain extent we tap on their instincts and control their food source. This allows us to determine where the bees have foraged for the bulk of the nectar. Once the bees have turned the nectar into honey we name it according to the trees or flowers within the proximity of the hives.

We also like to innovate and try to create honey varieties with unique flavours; these are created by a blend of nectar from a multitude of flowers. Our signature blend honey is our Golden Harvest Premium Blend, this is harvested in early summer and it’s an explosion of flavours created by nectars from a mixture of Australian flowers and flowers from herbs such as lavender, rosemary and basil.
